The black fragments wrapped in the granite mass are xenoliths. They are fragments of surrounding rock which fall into lava granite is fornmed.

Tips: Take a close look of the rocks around you. Can you find any other xenoliths?

Magma intruded upwards from deep underground and surrounding rocks fell into it.

The cooled magma formed granite and the fragmented rock enclosed it; this is called ’xenolith’.

After weather denudation, both the granite and xenolith surfaced to the Earth’s surface.
