Tillite in Nanhua Period

During the Neoproterozoic Nanhua Period from 600 to 700 million years ago, the Earth’s surface was covered by ice, and this was called the “Snowball Event”. At that time, the Sanqingshan area was close to the sea but covered by glaciers. After the ice raft (iceberg) fell into the ocean, the material was carried by the ice raft (iceberg) and deposited in the sea   forming tillite. The conglomerates have varied sizes and their diameter is up to 40 cm. This is evidence of the “Snowball Event”
