Hanxing Pool

Cover an area of 3,480 square meters, the largest among three pools as well as the biggest one in Sanqingshan. Though it’s hard to confirm the existence of carps of five colors in Qinghua Pool and Hanxing Pool, as recorded in history, the accidental presence of a black carp in the process of clearance of Hanxing Pool, stamps the credibility of historical records to some extent.
In northwestern bank of Hanxing Pool sits a divine sculpture of stone carving with four characters of “Fu Mo Shang Xiang” engraved on its near cliff. Wearing a Taoist turban, loose robe with baggy sleeves, and having a jade tablet in hand, this sculpture sits uprightly with eyes naturally looking downward, as if gazing at pool water, arousing tranquil and solemn feelings of people. Below the bam is a gorge where grotesque stones scatter and streams gurgle. Among groups of verdant pines on the shore of three pools, Pixiu Pine in Qinghua Pool and Bingdi Pine in Hanxing Pool are the most peculiar and pretty. On the side of huge rock along Qinghua Pool, Pixiu Pine, measuring 6.1 meters in height and 0.6 meters in diameter, is identified as old as over 600 years. Its crown, whose one side prominently stretching out with the rest laying flat resembles a shape of a beast with an implication of good luck in ancient times---Pixiu, after which the pine is named. In midsummer, tiny orange flowers blossom among verdant pine needles, looking like a peacock spreading tail, so it is named as “Peacock Pine” by tourists. Besides, Bingdi Pine grows on slope of Hanxing Pool. As can be seen in this pine, two trunks grow as high as 8.5 meters out of one root, the left 0.46 meters in diameter and the right 0.39 meters with the crown 14.5 meters in width. Almost 500 years old, this aged pine, both of its trunk straight uprightly, gracefully thrives with flourishing leaves and needles.
Verdant ancient pines standing against the clear and serene pool, dotted with delicate ancient inscription of stone carving, invigorates minds and arouses nostalgic thinking of old times. Sceneries of these three pools reflect the optimal harmony of Nature and Humanity.
