Jiangxi Normal University is jointly built by the Ministry of Education and People’s Government of Jiangxi Province and is concluded in “National Basic Ability Construction Project of Western and Central China” and “Training Plan of Excellent Teacher”. The university integrates 10 disciplines such as literature, history, philosophy, economics, management, law, science, engineering, education and arts. It is ranked as the important provincial (normal) university by People’s Government of Jiangxi Province and shares the preferential development.

It is located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province with 4500 Mu covering area and over 1.4 million square meters building area, 3.7 million paper documents and over 1 million e-books in library and 3 campuses of Yaohu, Qingshanhu and Gongqingcheng. The Yaohu Campus is embraced around by the 7-kilometer Yao River without wall which shows its ecological and cultural characteristics.

The university is originated of White Deer Grotto Academy in Lushan Mountain and is built on the base of State-own Zhongzheng University founded in 1940 and renamed as State-own Nanchang University in 1949, Jiangxi Normal College in 1953 and Jiangxi Normal University in 1983. It is the unit awarded PhD and the first batch units awarded Bachelor and Master Degree.

Until May of 2015, it owns 22 professional schools and 1 independent school (science and technologic school) with 85 undergraduate majors, over 30 thousand full-time students of college and undergraduate, 5000 PhD and master degree and over 10 thousand students of adult higher education. In 2011, it ranked national top 50 of the typical experience of graduates’ employment.
