Shaorao Normal University is located in Shangrao City of Jiangixi Province and is developed from Shangrao Teachers’ School founded in June 1958. In 1959, Shangrao Teachers’ School and Shangrao Industry School were combined and reorganized as Gan Northeast University. In 1978, Shangrao Teachers’ School was independent with approval of State Council’s. In March 2000, Shangrao Normal College was founded with approval of the Ministry of Education and People’s Government of Jiangxi Province. It gained the awarded right of bachelor degree in February 2004 and passed the evaluation of the Ministry of Education on undergraduate teaching work.

Until October 2014, the college covers 1116 Mu with 1500 Mu planning area and 350 thousand building area. It owns 14 sub-colleges, 50 undergraduate majors, 16559 full-time students, 1022 registered teachers and administrative staffs among which there are 829 professional teachers, 1.23 million books and educational instruments valued over 80.14 million Yuan.
