Lushan UNESCO Global Geopark of China

On May 31, 2013, the Lushan UNESCO Global Geopark was invited to visit Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark, during which the two sides concluded a sister park relation.

Lushan UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the northern Jiangxi Province, close to the Yangtze River in the north, and next to Poyang Lake in the east. The area of the park is 500 square kilometers, with more than 10 thousand people in the core area. The average altitude of mountaintop is 1200 meters. It was included in the world heritage list in 1996, as China’s first "world cultural landscape". It became one of the first batch of the Global Geoparks Network in 2000.

Lushan is famous for the polygenetic composite landform composed of typical quaternary glacial relics of Chinese eastern mountains, and the remains of horst block mountain and metamorphic core complex. Its landform is closely connected with the plant, culture and history. Here, beautiful scenery, lush forests, streams, valleys, mountains, waterfalls and springs are available; Exotic villas of different styles can be found everywhere; Different religions harmoniously coexist. Uninterrupted historical bearing and rich Chinese and Western cultural deposits make it known as the "humanities holy mountain".
