The school was founded in 1956, through several changes, and became the “Sanqingshan Xikeng Central Primary School" in 2007 by the education resource integration. The school is located at the foot of Sanqingshan, covering an area of more than 12000 square meters; the school buildings cover an area of more than 4040 square meters with beautiful campus environment and complete education and teaching facilities and equipments.

Since the school was founded, the school has been guided by the school motto of “reading, understanding, being an upright person, becoming successful", taken as the school idea "letting knowledge open your happy life", oriented towards the construction of "digital campus, humane campus, harmonious campus", taken the strategy of " promoting the school through science and technology, leaving school with high quality, governing the school with a role model and brightening school with characteristics", and opened in an effort to create the school into a  "window" of Sanqingshan civilization, "garden" of education and "cradle" for children to grow up happily

In July 2015, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization and the 30th anniversary of the China’s accession to the Convention on World Heritage, 23 world heritage international youth volunteers from eight countries and regions such as Britain, France, Spain, South Korea recently went to Sanqingshan Xikeng Primary School, carrying out the second station activity of world heritage international volunteers’ tour to Sanqingshan.

In September 2013, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark held scientific propaganda activities with Sanqingshan Xikeng Primary School, which aimed to cultivate children’s interest in the geology of Sanqingshan, and fully understand their own hometowns, know how to save resources, protect the environment and build a beautiful Sanqingshan together.
