Yuansheng Sanqinghong black tea is rich in a variety of water soluble chemicals, including tea polyphenols, caffeine, carbohydrates, amino acids, protein, acid, aromatic substances, etc.. The color of Sanqinghong black tea soup is orange red. This is because the tea catechin is transferred into theaflavins and thearubigins in the process of fermentation. Theaflavins is yellow and thearubigins is red. This pigment can partly dissolve in water, forms red tea soup after brewing; another part of it is insoluble in water, accumulated in leaves, so that leaves become red, forming characteristics of red soup and red leaves of black tea.

There are not many types of aroma components of tea leaves of Yuansheng Sanqinghong, but after processing, the types of aroma components largely increase. According to the research, the number of types of aroma components of black tea is 6 times as many as that of fresh leaves, with 325 kinds of aroma components.

Sanqinghong black tea can produce complex chemical changes in the process of fermentation, producing many aromatic substances in the tea leaves, including aldehydes, alcohols, ketones, esters and other main components, all of which are of fruit aroma or flowers aroma, so Sanqinghong is often of this kind of sweet flavor and the aroma is strong.

Sanqinghong is produced in Sanqingshan Scenic Area and surrounding forest with the altitude of more than 1200 meters, where there is high mountain, dense forest, vertical and horizontal rocks and unique soil, winded around the clouds, and there are Gaoshan Laocong, Sanqing Souchong and other high-quality black tea varieties.
