On May 11-14, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark dispatched its members to Unzen Volcanic Area Global Geopark in Nagasaki, Japan for the 5th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference.

A total of 87 global geoparks from 27 countries were invited to participate in the conference. Conference was hosted by the Executive Board of UNESCO; the theme of the conference was the earth’s heritage and sustainable development. During the conference, the delegation of Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark made full use of platform for the conference, through the display board, dissemination of data and news media, to sufficiently promote the brand of the Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark.

After the conference, under the guidance of relevant experts, the Delegation of Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark met expert Mr. Nickolas Zouros from Executive Board and introduced actively heritage conservation and science popularization and research work carried out by Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark in recent years which were highly regarded by all experts, preparing the preliminary work related to communication with experts for the incoming in-situ survey and evaluation by UNESCO expert.
