In order to improve the public’s awareness on economical and intensive using of resources, popularize knowledge of earth science and technology, at the coming of the 47th World Earth Day, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark initiated promotion activities in various forms in Jinsha Tourists Square and Xikeng Primary School, themed by “save and intensively utilize resources, advocate green and simple living”.

The park popularized the popularized conception of Geopark and popularized knowledge of earth science to public through poster foldout, panel, electronic screen in visitor center, park website and Wechat public platform; initiated the “civilized tourism, green travel” signature commitment activity, to improve the sense of responsibility and mission of the visitors in civilized tourism; carried out the interactive activity of environmental protection “go downhill to exchange small gifts with waste ”, to encourage tourists to take the trash down the mountain consciously, so as to reduce the park environment pressure. On the day of the activity, the tourists participated in voluntarily, practicing the commitment of “civilized tourism, green travel”. The traveling was changed into a vivid civilization class.

In the afternoon, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark and the friend park- Spain Villuercas-Ibores-Jara UNESCO Global Geopark entered Xikeng Central Primary School and carried out the activities such as The World Earth Day, themed exhibition of “traveling in Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark”, science popularization class the “47th World Earth Day· Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark”, handicraft class on transformation of old things “ideas transforming old things, low carbon refreshing life”, striving for young science popularization volunteers of Sanqingshan Museum and etc. The interactive activities enhanced the public understanding of the World Earth Day, especially the teenagers’, so as to enhance the public awareness of protection on earth, environment and the park. Guide the whole society to consciously protect and rational utilize geo -resources, to establish green tourism model base with joint efforts.
