The Sanqingshan holly discovered this time lives in gentle slopes or ravines in an altitudinal range of 1300-1550m. Its distribution area is narrowly limited to two points in the park. The number of the fully grown individuals is less than 100, a critically endangered species. The discovery of the new species will contribute to biodiversity research of Sanqingshan and even the world.
