Fault


  A rock formation or body may fracture and deform under certain stress and if the rock mass on either side of the fracture have moved past each other, it is called a fault. As the rock formation is cut by a fault, the rocks on both sides of the fault fracture and then a valley is formed as a result of water erosion and weathering.
