Following the opening of the 2015 UNESCO World Heritage Forum in Sanqingshan yesterday, another international academic seminar is held in Sanqingshan today. The two international conferences participated by more than 300 Chinese and Foreign experts and scholars were held in the same heritage sites speaks volume of the tremendous value of the Sanqingshan.
On May 21, sponsored by the China Institute of Geography and Tourism Geography Professional Committee, International Tourism Association (ITSA) and Nanjing University Tourism Research, and undertaken by Sanqingshan Scenic Area Administrative Committee, the tenth Travel Frontier International Symposium was convened. Over 150 experts from universities including Temple University in the United States, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Nanjing University, Beijing Jiaotong University and Sun Yat-sen University discussed "world heritage OUV protection and tourism development. The symposium was the 10th symposium held by the Geographical Society of China Tourism Geography Professional Committee since the “Zhuhai International Conference on Urban Tourism in 1999, “2001 International Symposium on Tourism Planning and Management in Developing Countries”in Guilin and “2003 Tourism and Tourism Destination Construction and Management International Symposium”in Yichang. The symposium held biennially according to international practice aims to broaden scholars’ horizon, strengthen exchange between oriental and occidental academic circles and drive the sustainable development of geotourism of geosites and conservation and study of geosites.
