From 11th to 14th of May, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark dispatched its members to Unzen Volcanic Area Global Geopark in Nagasaki, Japan for the 5th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference.

87 Global Geoparks from 27 nations worldwide attended this conference whose theme was “world heritage and sustainable development”. During the conference, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark Delegation fully manifested the remarkable granite geosite heritage resources of Sanqingshan by means of panel display together with material dissemination and shared its experience and act in terms of heritage protection. Meanwhile, the delegation also communicated with many participating representatives, facilitating international exchanges.

After the conference, Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark Delegation met expert Nickolas Zouros from GGN Executive Board and introduced heritage conservation and science popularization and research work carried out by Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark in recent years which are highly regarded by all experts, preparing Sanqingshan for the incoming in-situ survey and appraisal by UNESCO expert.
